TOWN ANNOUNCE NEW COMMERCIAL MANAGER

Introduction to Simon Skeet -Commercial Manager (WTFC)

Simon played once or twice at ‘right back’ for WTFC back in the late 80’s so he’s no stranger to the club. Although he grew up in Canterbury he has always had a strong connection with Whitstable and has lived in the town for the last two years, as do his two teenage sons, one of whom is eager to play for our U/18’s side.

Having spent much of his working life in Marine Insurance including six and a half years at Lloyds of London as a broker he then worked as an underwriter and went on to manage small/medium size technical teams. His decision to leave corporate life and become self-employed drew on many acquired skills but life ‘in the real world’ gave him many new invaluable experiences and honed his abilities to run a business but with an emphasis on sales and marketing.

Simon is rapidly gaining an appreciation of the scale of the job he is now undertaking for the Club, especially in these times of ‘austerity measures and double dip recessions’ but is very keen to succeed and has already identified several opportunities for the Club.

‘We need to work with our fans, our local businesses and the community of Whitstable to increase our attendance figures as gate receipts are our lifeblood and to bring in more sponsors/business partners to bolster our funding and  the facilities we can offer, but to dub a cliché it is going to take a ‘team effort’ to take us to where we want to be in the next 1 to 3 years. Better results on the pitch will make my job easier when I am talking to businesses so we all have a part to play

Simon has asked that ANYBODY with ANY WELL THOUGHT THROUGH IDEAS or USEFUL CONTACTS for potential sponsorship simply call him on 0754 646 2186 or e.mail him at simon.skeet@whitstabletownfc.co.uk

TEAM PERFORMANCE OF THE MONTH (JANUARY)

Whitstable Town are awarded January Team Performance of the month for the Ryman League Division One (South).

A stellar performance from all concerned, the Management Team, Players, Ground-staff, Officials & Supporters whom all contributed to a worthy outcome; beating Worthing with one of the best Away records in the Ryman South.

With the ground passed fit late in the morning, following heavy snowfall along the Kent coast line throughout the week & only after enormous efforts by all to get the game on, WTFC were rewarded not only with three excellent points but by being recognized in such a way. The determination by all to clear the ground of snow was truly rewarded by an excellent team display; a team that showed, guts, passion and belief.

Throughout the week the Head Groundsman continually advised the Chairman that the game would need a miracle to happen if it were to take place; to which the Chairman stated ‘Miracles do happen, believe!……..all at WTFC were well rewarded & its great to see such recognition.

This was the first time since April 2011 (2010-11) that we scored four goals without reply; and with four different scorers!..
