After a goalless first leg, Whitstable Town B Team progressed to the next round of the Suburban League Challenge Cup with a 5-2 win at Greatness Park against Sevenoaks Under 21s.
A defensive mix up allowed Newman Poku to open the scoring mid way through the first half, although the home side were level soon afterwards from a free kick. Poku restored the advantage just before the break and a good finish by Danio Brown made it 3-1 ten minutes into the second half. Although Sevenoaks pulled one back with a good strike, Poku completed his hat-trick before picking up a hamstring injury and substitute Robbie Smith chipped in a fifth in the last minute. Calvin Sedenu gave an assured performance at the back, before he also had to leave the field due to an injury and goalkeeping substitute Harry Brooks made a cameo appearance as a defender late on.
Whitstable now play Corinthian Reserves, a Premier Division side, in the next round over two legs.
Newman Poku 22, 39, 80
Danio Brown 55
Robbie Smith 90
The team’s next fixture is at home to Chessington & Hook Reserves on Saturday 1 October in the Suburban League.
