Whitstable Town went down 2-0 on Saturday afternoon as they failed to make an impression on Corinthian Casuals.

It was Town who were first “out of the traps” as they were the brighter starters. A long range shot from Scott Punton after eight minutes was their first effort as the ball went high over the bar. Within a minute there was another opportunity as Dean Grant played a ball into Sam Bewick who nodded over. Punton was in the action again on twenty minutes when he got on the end of Taser Hassan corner but his shot went straight into the arms of Casuals keeper Danny Bracken. Casuals had to wait until half way through the half to have their first effort from Sekou Kaba which went well over the bar. A minute later a Harry Stannard cross into Grant was headed just over. Casuals were now getting back into the game as Juevan Spencer had a shot well saved by Eason and the rebound found Josh Uzun whose attempt was blocked. Then came a killer blow as Kaba was adjudged to be brought down in

the penalty area. Up stepped Uzun who sent Eason the wrong way to give Casuals the lead. Eason had to be at his best three minutes before half time as a free kick from Ben King was arrowing towards the top corner until the Town keeper tipped the ball over.

The second half started in a similar vein as on the hour Charlie Smith slammed a shot from 25 yards slammed into the upright. A minute later a Hassan cross found Grant who headed over. However the game was all over on seventy minutes as centre back Danny Dudley fired home at the far post as he met an incoming free kick. Town did have a couple of opportunities to narrow the lead before the end as Grant firstly lobbed the ball over and then hammered wide. Bracken was also on hand to save well from Sam Conlon but Town could not find a way through.

This result is a setback for Town as they start the preparations for the Christmas game at Herne Bay on Monday week.
